Caerdav: St Athan’s aircraft maintenance specialist at Bro Tathan

Caerdav is a St Athan-based aircraft maintenance, repair and overhaul company at Bro Tathan. It supports airlines with aircraft checks, repairs, storage and consultancy, and offers local training through its Apprenticeship Academy, supporting jobs and skills in South Wales.

Caerdav is a St Athan-based aircraft maintenance, repair and overhaul business operating from its Twin Peaks facility at Bro Tathan West. The company describes itself as one of the UK’s only truly independent, fully approved and certified MRO organisations, working from a former RAF maintenance base with a 6,000ft ILS runway and parking for up to 20 narrow-bodied aircraft.

The business specialises in maintenance work for aircraft including the Boeing 737 and Airbus A320 family. Its services include aircraft maintenance checks, repairs, modifications, engine and landing gear changes, interior refits, composite repairs, non-destructive testing, aircraft storage, tool hire and aviation consultancy.

Caerdav is also an important local employer and training provider. Through the Caerdav Apprenticeship Academy, young people aged 16–19 can begin an aircraft maintenance pathway, with classroom training at ICAT in the first year followed by paid hands-on work at Caerdav’s St Athan facility in years two and three.

In 2025, Caerdav announced that it had completed work to open a fourth maintenance line at its St Athan site, enabling the company to support maintenance work on four aircraft at once. The company said the investment would support additional jobs and opportunities in South Wales.

Caerdav’s presence at Bro Tathan highlights St Athan’s continued role in the aviation and aerospace sector, building on the area’s long association with aircraft engineering and maintenance.
