Celebrating 2025, Shaping 2026
2025 was a busy and successful year for St Athan Community Council, delivering a wide range of events and initiatives for the community. Building on this success, plans for 2026 include continuing popular events, introducing new activities, and creating more opportunities for residents to engage.

2025 was a busy and successful year for St Athan Community Council, with a wide range of events and initiatives delivered for our community.
Community Events in 2025
• 4 May – Family Fun Day at The Gathering Place
• 10 June – Connector Session at PLCC (ALN)
• 22 June – Civic Service at St Tathan Church and PLCC
• 19 July – Village Fair
• 9 November – Remembrance Service at St Tathan Church and PLCC
• 15 November – Christmas Market at The Gathering Place
• 29 November – Christmas Lights Switch-On, held in conjunction with the Christmas Market at PLCC

Additional community activities included:
• Air Cadets cleaned the war memorial and with Councillors and staff placed poppies on lamp post around the area
• Councillors installing the poppy wall, with poppies created by the Craft Ladies
• Christmas artwork displayed across the ward on bus stops and telephone boxes
• Introduction of regular Community Drop-In Sessions
• Re-establishment of regular community litter picks
• Re-establishment St Athan Community Activities Working Group (CAWG)

Council Achievements and Improvements
• Councillors actively supporting residents with a wide range of local issues. (County and community Councillors)
• Chair and Vice-Chair attended a range of events as invited by neighbouring villages and towns
• VE Day bus stop artwork in May, created by ArtSian
• Replacement roof installed at the Old School Hall
• New live Christmas trees for St Athan, Flemingston and Gileston

Council Changes
It was with regret that three Councillors resigned during 2025. We were pleased to welcome two new Councillors:
• Cllr Gethyn Clarke (Gileston)
• Cllr Lloyd Wiltshire (St Athan)
Our team currently includes 11 Councillors: 7 representing St Athan village, 3 representing Flemingston, and 1 representing Gileston. We also have two County Councillors and the Proper Officer/Responsible Financial Officer (Clerk).
